This show is subject to the Houston Livestock Show General Rules and Regulations and to the Special Rules of this section. Where
Special Rules conflict with other rules, Special Rules prevail.
Special Rules for Sheep Dog Trials
1. Entry Requirements: Official Entry must be made online with an entry fee of $40 per entry. One entry fee is valid for the
eligibility in both trials. Entry deadline is Feb. 1, 2024.
2. On-line entry and on-line payment is available for Sheep Dog Trial entries via the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
website: www.rodeohouston.com.
3. Health Requirements: A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection current within 30 days is required to accompany all dogs eligible to enter NRG Park. Certificate must state that rabies vaccination is current. Health Papers will be checked at check-in. Animals not in compliance with animal health rules will be escorted off premises.
4. Awards: There will be a buckle awarded to each overall class winner based on the best cumulative time on the two trials.
5. Divisions: Open, Open Ranch, Ranch, Novice, Nursery.
6. Animals: Dogs will only be allowed in unloading dock area of NRG Center, the staging area, and the Main arena during
competition. Dogs are not permitted in other areas of NRG Park. Potty areas will be designated, and owners should make
their best attempt to use these areas.
7. Competition: Two trials with one run each. Sliding scale payout will be used, not to TSDA standard. Premiums will be paid directly from the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo. Total purse will be $3,000 per trial.
8. Check In: Owners should check-in animals at Dock C of NRG Center. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until 9
a.m.
